Immersion and Conversation System Workshops

Building rapport and starting conversations with patients about what matters most isn’t easy, especially in the time-constrained environment of healthcare. Our workshops give your staff access to new skills and tools that will improve conversations with patients and families. These workshops have been shown to improve teamwork and reduce moral distress among staff.

We offer two ways that your staff can learn to use the Common Practice tools: the Conversation System and the Immersion Workshop. Both options give staff direct, hands-on experience with Hello tools, and provide a valuable and enjoyable experience for any team caring for people with serious illness.

The Immersion Workshop offers rapid implementation, giving up to 50 members of your staff direct experience with Common Practice’s conversation toolbox. Staff are introduced to Hello, and learn to use one of the tools we’ve developed with previous teams that have been shown to drive person-centered conversations.

The Conversation System consists of a series of workshops where Common Practice works with your staff team to customize an approach to their specific patient population. These workshops include everything in the Immersion Workshop and adds an iterative, custom approach to improving staff/patient interactions has been shown to reduce moral distress and improve confidence in starting Goals of Care conversations. These workshop are for teams of up to 15 members who develop and learn to implement new tools that can then be spread to larger groups of staff.
